St John Henry Newman

Roger EleyNews

Last Sunday 13th October was a very special day for us Catholics. The first non-martyr English saint for many centuries was canonised by Pope Francis at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome after the proof of miracles at his intercession has been accepted by the Church.

Some brief notes about our new Saint can be found by following the link St John Henry Newman

In our very secular society he has great relevance, especially his teaching that the voice of our conscience is God speaking to us in the depth of our heart. If we all listened to our conscience more and followed it, we would not go far wrong!

St John Newman pray for us here in Gateshead, as we try, as we may, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ within our neighbourhoods, as you did in your time in the city of Birmingham during Victorian era.
