The Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, serve the Church and their neighborhood on a voluntary basis.
Our group or praesidium is named Our Lady of Lourdes. Currently we have five members who did meet every Tuesday prior to the Government lockdown in 2020. New dates will be arranged in due course.
We visit sick, elderly and housebound people in the parish and surrounding area always working in pairs, never alone.
The work carried out can be demanding but is always satisfying. Even people with families still get lonely especially if they are elderly. Visiting someone like this can be very rewarding; just to listen to them makes all the difference to their day. Compassion and patience are needed when visiting and the visit always end with a short prayer.
Our Parish Priest who is a constant support in all the work we accomplish refers people to us who he feels will benefit from our visit.
We deliver a quarterly magazine to our auxiliary praying members, this keeps them in touch with the many things that are being carried out by all our Legionaries all over the world.
