At Mass on Sunday 19th November we celebrated the 80th Birthday of Joan Limer.
Joan was joined by her family and many friends for the service.
Her family assisted in the service with her brother Tom, sister Mary and daughter Catherine carrying out Eucharistic Minister duties, her grandchildren read the bidding prayers and her daughter Sioban and nephew Michael read the mass readings.
After mass everyone joined the family in the church hall for a cup of tea, a glass of wine, a birthday buffet and cake.
The family then went on to Ravensworth Golf Club for a family lunch.
Joan and her husband John were “founder” members of the church. They have both worked tirelessly for the parish over the years. Joan being a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the choir, an organiser of the Piety Shop and a member of the Ladies Guild.
We hope Joan and all her family had a great day.
“When we go to Mass, maybe we arrive five minutes before, and we start to chit-chat with those in front of us,” the Pope said Nov. 15. However, “it is not a moment for chit-chat.”
“It is a moment of silence for preparing ourselves for dialogue, a time for the heart to collect itself in order to prepare for the encounter with Jesus,” he said, adding that “silence is so important.”
