First Holy Communion 2018

Roger EleyNews

Six children from St Anne’s Primary School celebrated receiving First Holy Communion at the 10.30 Parish Mass on Sunday 24th June.

It was a beautiful celebration with all six children playing a significant part in this Special Liturgy.

The Church was packed with the children’s families and friends as well as our parish family.

Abigail; Ethan; Jacob; Katie; Natalia and Ruby did the readings, bidding prayers and brought the offertory gifts to the altar.

Jacob sang the psalm and the whole group performed a beautiful liturgical dance as a thanksgiving prayer after Holy Communion.

Mass was celebrated by Fr. Kelly and a visiting Benedictine monk Fr. Godric, who is the great uncle of Jacob.

After mass a beautiful buffet breakfast for the children and their families was served in the Church Hall. A special celebration cake for all the children was made by one of the parents.

The children were presented with Sunday Missals and certificates from the school by the Head Teacher Mrs Fraser.

Thanks go to everyone who made the occasion so special for the children. The Choir and Mrs Ellis, who Mrs Fraser also thanked for all the help she gives the school throughout the year. The ladies who did the beautiful church flowers. The ladies who helped with the refreshments and the clear up afterwards.

Special thanks however go to the parish Catechists Mary Stacey and Christine Hodgkinson who have prepared the children over the year for this special day.

It was a wonderful parish/school occasion. Please continue to pray for the children and their families.
