Could we bring to your attention to a new header (Readings) we’ve added to the website. This will link to the weekly readings for Sunday Mass and to the website www.wednesdayworld.org.uk which expands and reflects on the readings.
On Thursday 23rd February a Requiem Mass was held for Alan Archer.
Alan was a founder member of St Anne’s parish and was involved all aspects of parish life over the years having been a school governor, Eucharistic minister, member of the SVP and a “star” member of the choir. Please pray for Alan’s wife Lena and their daughter Susan and her family.
Please take time to look at the items about Alan on the Parish Bulletins on 12th and 19th February

On Saturday afternoon there was a party in the church hall for family and friends. Then on Sunday she invited parishioners to help her celebrate with a glass of wine, a birthday buffet and another cake.
Mary is a “founder member” of St Anne’s being a member of the choir and helping run the piety shop.
We hope Mary and her family had a great weekend. Happy Birthday Mary.

On Thursday evening 9th February at two meetings across the Diocese Bishop Seamus Cunningham outlined His Diocesan Board’s decision to divide the 150 parishes within the Diocese into 18 partnerships.
Bishop Seamus stated that “A partnership is a group of parishes agreeing to work together, to share resources, both human and material, to become stronger and better equipped for the furthering of the Kingdom of God”
He is convinced that the partnerships will enable programmes to be developed and delivered locally, that smaller communities can be supported; the gifts, talents and financial resources in a wider area can be put at the service of more people and that a thorough review of all property will need to carried out in the near future.
The document One Diocese 18 Partnerships Unlimited Potential outlining the new partnerships can be downloaded here
St Anne’s will be part of a 13 parish partnership joining with St Philip Neri – Dunston; St Patrick Felling; Corpus Christi, Holy Rosary, St Joseph, St Wilfred – Gateshead; St Augustine – Leam Lane; Immaculate Heart – Lobley Hill; St Peter – Low Fell; St Alban – Pelaw; St Mary – Whickham & St Oswald – Wrekenton.
At mass on Sunday 29th January we celebrated the 80th birthday of Joyce Birney.
Joyce was joined by her family and many friends for the service and after mass everyone enjoyed a glass of wine, a slice of cake and a birthday buffet in the Church Hall.
Joyce and her husband Jim were “founder members” of the parish. They have both worked tirelessly for the parish and school and Joyce’s organisation of the Ladies trips to Walsingham is legendary.
We hope Joyce and all her family had a great day.
The Sunday morning service on 22nd January was a Celebration Mass for Kevin Bayne who died who far too young in December at is home in Norfolk.
Kevin was the second of three sons to Margaret and Alan Bayne.
Margaret and Alan were joined at the mass by members of their extended family from all over the North East and it was lovely to see so many members of Kevin’s school friends.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Margaret, Alan, brothers Paul & Michael and Kevin’s wife Thalia and children at this very sad time.
In the update of the Forward Together in Hope process published on this site on 18th December we advised that Partnership Proposals for our group of parishes had been sent to the Diocese. A copy of these proposals are now available to download here
