Fr Brendan’s Last Sunday Mass at St Anne’s

Roger EleyNews

Last Sunday Father Brendan celebrated his last Sunday Mass at St Anne’s

It was lovely to see the Church full to overflowing with parishioners from St Anne’s and many of his previous parishes present. After Mass in the Church Hall there was shared buffet and drinks.

In the weeks leading up to Father’s retirement a collection had been arranged which raised £1140 and Father was presented with this along with other gifts.

The event was closed with a St Anne’s version of Galway Bay (verses below)

If we ever go across the sea to Ireland

And find out that we need a place to stay

We can phone up Fr Brendan in his new place

And he can take us all to Galway Bay

We will leave St Anne’s at dawn on Monday morning

And arrive in dear old Ireland that same day

We can put BR.ND.N in the Sat Nav

And it’ll take us straight to Galway Bay

We will miss you go dear Fr Brendan

You’ve brought us close together in your way

St Anne’s will never be the same without you

But we wish you happiness in Galway Bay

Earlier in the week Father said his last school mass and afterwards he was presented with a card, which every pupil had signed, and a special Leavers Bear which he said he would put on his mantlepiece at his new home in Galway
